Hi Jack. I've run into cases where fonts disappear or change in the MOBI version too. As best I've been able to find, it's due to the Kindle's limited support for fonts. When researching it, I happened across some articles that made the case for abandoning the fanciness for the kindle version as those readers are more there for the story itself, and not so much how it looks. I can think of one workaround, which would be to make your chapter headings into graphics/images using the font you like, and inserting it as a jpg or png into the document before conversion. That way it will look exactly as you intend. Fonts in ebooks are subject to changing based on the reader's preferences for scaling and whatnot, so it's an inexact thing to expect a typeface to remain consistent in that medium. Unless, of course, you make it into an image. In that case, they'll see whatever you want them to see. :)

Great article, Matt. I'm having one problem that you might know how to handle. The mobi file I create with Calibre is changing my chapter heading fonts from Times New Roman to some monospace font (looks like an old typewriter font). I can't find the fix to this. The last document I created in Calibre was in December of 2017 and this didn't happen. Checked all my doc settings. Tried latest version of Calibre. Uninstalled lastest version and re-installed earlier version. Nothing works. Do you have any ideas?
